A PS5 restock has been ruled out at a key UK retailer this week as Argos fans are dealt a crushing blow. The high street catalog retailer has been ruled out over an impending restock – but there is better news for GAME, Smyths Toys Superstores, and Very customers.
The PS5 restock has become a key fixture in the consumer calendar each week throughout lockdown, after a problem-plagued launch that left the console in short supply amid insatiable demand from consumers after consoles initially dropped back in November.
John Lewis, Currys, Smyths and GAME are all expected to be lined up for restocks as soon as today.
It comes after gamers were left disappointed when rumours of a Smyths restock swirling on social media throughout this week came to no avail.
@Ps5Instant said: “Expecting GAME (9-10am) & Argos (1-4am) 8th to 14th April.”
This has been backed up by another PS5 restock alerts account on Twitter, which has assured gamers desperately trying to get hold of the elusive console that “April is promising for stock”.
The account, @PS5CentralNews, claims “at least one major retailer will release every week”.
Rumours also continue that Amazon is about to make a large drop of PS5 consoles any day now.
PS5 Restock Updates
It’s proving to be a hectic day for PS5 restocks. Game released a bumper crop this morning just after 9 am, swiftly followed by Currys at midday.
Both retailers sold out within an hour or so but there could be more to come today…
It seems like the first of several big PS5 restocks, dubbed “March Madness” on social media, have begun.
Game’s PS5 restock comprises 60% disc edition and 40% Digital Edition but was blighted by glitches, leaving many gamers to vent their fury on Twitter.
The good news is that Game and Currys are expected to restock again later today or this week.
According to one prominent tipster, “Due to the huge amount of bugs, Game will most likely re-release the stock that doesn’t get sold either later today or later in the week.” Fingers crossed.
Yesterday Amazon restocked although there was no sign of the rumoured AO.com restock.
Meanwhile, it was a familiar story at Argos. The high street tech chain released a batch of PlayStation 5 consoles at 1 am and 3 am yesterday, but a website error left many gamers empty-handed.
Curious as to why Argos drops before dawn? “Almost every PS5 stock replenish has been around the same time,” said an Argos spokesperson. “With fewer people online at this time, the website runs smoother.”
